Well, for the most part, things were going good with the cars and whatnot. Last night, I parked in a spot I wasn't comfortable with and then Jess parked behind me. When we got up this morning, her car had been hit. As we tried to figure out what to do to make the rental people aware, Detective Chris discovered a note from the person. Her name was Stavroula, she apologized for "I scratched your car," that was the translation, and she left her number. It was all Greek to me. I popped the piece back in and then tried to wash off the marks - no luck. If Stavroula didn't leave a note, this post would have been very fucing different.
We finished packing the cars to get out of there and made our way to our first and only stop for the day on the way to our new spot in Melissi, Kapsia Cave. The plan was to get the 1:30 tour of the cave - unfortunately, it had been sold out and was only in Greek, so we had to wait for the 2:30.
We grabbed some snacks, the McNeill's took over the tiny pitch that was there and then some other kids jumped in with them, including Flower from The Netherlands.
Jess and Chris chatted with some couple from Belgium. There were two waffles with chocolate to be had by everyone, some orange cake, coffee and beverages. It started to pout while we were there - that didn't stop the kids from playing soccer.
Once you have seen a cave, you have generally seen them all, so you have to look for somethings that are different in them. There were two unique features in this one that I had not seen before. The first, were these "teeth" in how some of the stac/gmites grew and then there were the human bones. That's right, you heard me right, human bones. More on that later. I will probably just upload a bunch of pictures for you because that will be the easiest way for you to see what was up in the caves.
This was the original entrance to the cave. There is a sink hole.
You can kind of see the teeth on the formation here - I am not sure if she explained how they got there but Neil said that she said it was the only cave in the world where this happens.
This is one set of the human bones. They have been dated to 300 BC. They are unsure exactly how they got there. I think they are leaning towards a flood carrying the remains there - whether they died prior or in the cave is unknown to me. I was curious if it was a burial site, because I had recently watched a show on some cave where they carried the bodies in to some crazy cave but it does not appear like this would be the case unfortunately, because it would be a significant archeological find.
Another bone.
Bone.
The drive was about another 45 minutes with a 20-30 minute pee-food break in between, then a wrong turn by someone I was following. We made it to the house and parked and met the host. Now we are waiting for Jess and Chris to get back from the store with food and maybe more importantly, beer. Everyone is pretty hungry. I busted open a can of grape leaves, but not everyone likes them. As a matter of fact, I think only Neil and I ate them because Duncan was pooping. We are hoping to get a little bit of a show fro, the sunset but I think this is going to be the extent of it...enjoy.

Random Quote: I forgot to add this yesterday, when they went to the pastry shop, Isla, "Mom, I really have to fucking pee!"
