Today is Duncan's 9th birthday - and there is nothing a 9 y/o likes better than walking around ruins, celebrating their birthday in another country and not having a party with friends. I have to say that he was a very good sport about it - any of us would love to possibly celebrate in another country, but not when you're a little kid.
Third child - goes with the flow.
Once we woke Neil up (everyone has to be up), Duncan got to open his presents. Just a few small things to help him on his special day.
We ate some food - packed up the cars and headed towards Athens with a stop in AgroCorinth.
Now, we didn't plan this stop well at all. The site is huge and we should have spent a significant time there - but we had to get the car to Athens for 2 pm. Jess said that in the reviews she read people said that if you saw Mycenae then you didn't need to see this - bullshit! They are very different sites and this one was in my opinion, better placed with better views. We literally only got half an hour to walk around - and we probably could have done an easy leisurely two hours. Malcolm wasn't feeling well - because he ate a bunch of birthday candy - so he and Jess and Chris stayed back.
When the time was up we made it back to the car and the race to get to Hertz by 2:29.
Made it to our apartment which was just down the street and got inside. Took a nap, we got some takeaway and then heded to the Acropolis.
We saw these two on some grass on our way to the Acropolis.
Isla's stomach has bee bothering her - probably from all the dairy she has been eating and as a result, Jess stayed down with her while the rest of us went up to see the site.
Theater of Diyonisius
I wish there were less people and I had more time because I could have done some really cool stuff here.
We had the pleasure of meeting up with part of the Solomos family - Jess taught (I think 2 out of 3) violin in school. We just see people everywhere we go! We got to hang out, walk around and of course, get ice cream.
